What is Cold Brew tea?
Cold Brew is not iced tea. Instead of brewing with hot water and cooling it down, tea is directly infused with cold water here – and then steeps for several hours in the refrigerator.
This preserves bitter substances but releases fine aromas and makes the tea:
- particularly mild and soft in taste
- gently stimulating through slow caffeine release
- ideal for hot days, concentrated work, or quiet afternoons
Instructions: How to prepare Cold Brew
You need:
- 500–750 ml still, cold water
- 3–5 g loose tea (1 TL per 250 ml)
- 1 carafe or glass container with lid
- Time: Let steep in the refrigerator for 8–12 hours
Preparation:
- Add tea to the carafe
- Fill up with cold water
- Cover and place in the refrigerator
- Strain after steeping time and enjoy
Tip: Whole tea leaves (e.g., Oolong or Sencha) are particularly suitable. Experiment with steeping time & amounts to find your ideal aroma.
